4.40 ct natural diamond Harry Winston style 1950s Solitaire ring in platinum

I’m gonna tell you all the things I feel when I look at this ring. Of course at first I look at it and think “holy sh!t⚽️z that’s a massive stone!!” but it makes me feel more than that. First and foremost, this ring is from the 1950s. When I think about the idealization of the 50s purely from a fashion standpoint I get so excited imagining the graceful Dior dresses that the woman who owned this wore. I’ve heard rings like this called ten table rings because you can see them from 10 tables away. I can only imagine that the woman who wore stood out in a crowd on her own but put this beauty on her and she would be the belle of the ball. What I find most fascinating about it though is that it’s cut in a very unique way. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen something cut like this and it’s hard to explain. It feels like the facets are radiating out from the center in a firework formation. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything like this, but I can tell you that it is throwing off fire and sparkle more than any stone I’ve ever seen. Maybe this was the 1950s attempt at a fantasy cut, but it is incredibly cool and takes this already fantastic ring up so many notches. The diamond is GIA certified 4.4 cts LVS1 faint Brown. It has strong blue fluorescence which definitely glows blue but nowhere near as much as is being caught on video. The distance shots are really the most blue I see with my naked eye. It also has that little bit of faint brown so in some lighting it looks pink. I love that trick. It definitely does not look like an L from the top or the side, so whatever is going on here is magic. It’s stamped platinum and handmade. If that’s true, maybe I’m right about it being a fantasy cut and maybe this is a one-of-a-kind. It measures 10.85 x 15.76, it sits 8.5 mm off the finger, it weighs 5.2 g, it is a size 6
